Each year, Fitzgerald’s workshop at the resort allows students to cre- ate and install pieces to be displayed throughout the expansive property, including mosaic tables and fused glass table- ware. s Students apply mosaics to form the coral shape for the frieze. While at her home studio, Fitzgerald and her team of professionals cut the 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) HYDRO BAN® Board with a jigsaw into the desired shapes, including turtles, seaweed and an octopus. Because the board is so lightweight, the pre-cut pieces could be carried to Mexico in a checked suitcase. The artist-owned and operated Hacienda Mosaico resort celebrates creativity and offers accessible art and inspirational workshops to students in a non-competitive setting. s s s
