Using the results of this regional training, NTCA plans to roll out regional training sessions in each or our regions next year.” Training events planned in 12 regions in 2018 And, the education events will continue into next year, as well, with a series of full-day training events in each of the NTCA’s 12 regions. As currently planned, each of these events will consist of training tracks with topics designed to inform and instruct on advanced installation practices, noted Heinlein. Instruction will be based on ANSI Standards and TCNA Handbook methods and use of the NTCA Reference Manual for guidance and solutions. Key subject matter areas will include: • Substrate inspection and preparation • Thick-bed methods for floors, showers, and walls • Proper handling and installation of gauged porcelain tile panels and gauged porcelain tile panels/slabs • Tile industry standards relating to all installations Sub-categories related to the primary training areas will include: • Selection and installation of mortars, membranes, seal- ants, drains and related setting materials • Selection and use of tools, including specialty tools • Efficient team work flow • Job site safety and health practices These regional training events will provide an aware- ness and understanding of the basic requirements for all tile installations, Heinlein said. “Attendees will receive hands-on training to develop new skills using both clas- sic and state-of-the-art tools, materials and techniques that will aid in preparation for completing Advanced Certifications for Tile Installers (ACT).” Attendees will be exposed to a variety of manufacturers and their product lines, and will also receive a certificate of completion from the NTCA.
