By Becky Serbin, NTCA Training and Education Coordinator Since this issue is devoted to Coverings, I wanted to discuss what I do while I am at Coverings and how I use it to do my job once I get home. While you may be a contractor and I sit behind a computer developing education content, we can both use the week to help with our careers. You may wonder why I am using space dedicated to NTCA University to again talk about Coverings. Well, I get some great ideas for new con- tent by talking with contractors and manufacturers, walking through the Installation Experience, and sitting through both classroom and live stage demos at the show. Hopefully you have already taken the time to take a look at the sched- ule for the show and you have an idea of what you want to learn about. Typically, I will first look for sessions that are on hot topics such as silica or working the GCs or any other issue that I have heard from our contractors about that may be useful to provide a course in the future on NTCA University. If you are like me, your schedule will no doubt change each day as you get to talking with someone and miss something that you wanted to learn about. So what I have begun doing is reviewing the schedule at the start of the day and deciding what is really important that I sit through. With those courses, no matter what I may be doing on the show floor, I attend the training session that I think is important for me to learn about. Once I am sitting through a classroom session or live demo, I make sure to write down the course name and speaker contact information just in case I have fol- low up questions later on about their presentation.
