Daltile/ASID award interior design scholarships Kristina Tribell, a student of the Art Institute of Houston, is the winner of the fifth annual Daltile Interior Design Scholarship, in partnership with the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Foundation. During NeoCon East 2016 in Philadelphia, Daltile senior brand manager Kim Albrecht presented Tribell with a $10,000 scholarship to continue her educa- tion in the field of interior design. Tribell’s design was chosen from more than 120 entries. This year’s design challenge, titled “Design Inspired by Nature,” was to redesign a hotel lobby using key biophilic design principles, demonstrating how thoughtful design, creativity, and Daltile prod- ucts can come together to cre- ate a beautiful, welcoming, and impactful space. Tribell chose the Hyatt Regency Hotel in down- town Houston as her project loca- tion, redesigning the lobby to incorporate biophilic influences. Using Daltile collections, includ- ing Marble Attaché™ and Saddle Brook™ Glazed Porcelain, Tribell reinvented the space to be more calming, a stark contrast from the bustling city outside of the hotel lobby doors.
