By Lesley Goddin How many hours a week do you spend in your mobile office – aka your truck, van, wheels, ride, mobile billboard? We thought it would be fun to take a view into what NTCA contractor members are using to get back and forth to their projects, how they have them outfitted and how some of them make use of graphics and signage to promote their businesses on the road. At DSTS – Doug Scott’s Tile Service – in Shelby, N.C., owner Doug Scott uses this Ford 250 pickup with a massive trailer to transport tools and equipment. This 1986 truck used by Lucero Flooring in Jesup, Ga., pulls the trailer with tools and equipment to the job. Owner Donovan Lucero said, “I actually have a 2014 Dodge Longhorn Edition I pull with as well. I swap out back and forth between the two trucks. The ‘86 makes a great conversation starter with most clients.” This 2002 Chevy S10 low rider is Kai Fletcher’s daily ride in Shreveport, La. He vows that “Fletcher Tile LLC” will be on his next vehicle. NTCA 1st Vice President Martin Brookes of Heritage Marble & Tile in Mill Valley, Calif., says his GMC Denali 2500 mobile office “has all the creature comforts of an office: mobile hot spot, plenty of ports to plug into and a big comfy seat with a fantastic view.” Brookes likes being on the road and his well-appointed mobile office means he isn’t confined to his desk. 94 TileLetter | December 2018
