Theexpansionwasstartedwithatwo- fold goal of creating more space for the steadily growing company and to use the expansion as a canvas for expertly installed, world-class tile. Florida Tile called upon their vendor partners Laticrete, Miracle Sealants, Schluter, and TEC to assist with products and knowledge to make this project a success. The first leg of the expansion was an additional floor at 998 Governors Lane, Lexington. This second floor of the building provided 4,423 sq. ft. of office space and 2,000 sq. ft. of meeting and training space. Installing large rectified tiles ranging in size from 8x24 to 18x36 the company selected to use Laticrete 254 Platinum and 254R Platinum Rapid thin-set mortar along with Miracle Sealants’ Levolution lippage control system. As you move through the office, the format and design of the tile changes. Each transition is protected and made more beautiful by the use of Schluter System floor profiles. Elegantly subtle, these decorative edges allow these functional joints in the floor and/or wall to work within the overall design, blending function and aesthetics. The finishing touch in tile installation is always the grout. For this signature project, Florida Tile chose TEC power grout. The quality that Florida Tile always gets from this product in our high-traffic tradeshow installs provided the assurance that this would stand the test at our home offices. The last leg of the expansion was to create a beautiful space that serves as both a private showroom and a tile resource library. This 3,577 sq. ft. space features walls and furniture completed with 3+mm gauged wall tile and a runway design of oversized polygon shaped tile in the entry way. The completion of this corporate expansion marks a milestone for Florida Tile as they start their 65th year of business.
