of work that your company does every day. These courses should be used to supplement what the employee is learning on the job. There is no need to have classroom time to train someone unless you want them to practice a new task prior to arriving at the job. No matter which path you take just remember that in addition to these related-learning courses, the new hire needs to have the skills in order to do a good job. You may have an eager employee who decides to take all of the online courses over one week. This does not mean that they are qualified and can be promoted to the next pay grade. There is a big difference between lessons learned and skill required to implement the given task. You need to have a com- bination of the two to truly be good at your job and move on to that next pay grade. Instead of the employee doing something just because they are told to, it’s also a good idea to have an understanding of why they are doing it. While we don’t have any require- ments on how the online courses must be used, we do recommend that safety courses be taken prior to someone going on a job site for the first time. As an employer, it is your responsibility to train your employees of the risks involved with the many tools, methods, and materials used every day as a tile setter or finisher.
