This illuminating hour- long talk was an inspirational journey into the interior design and color trends influencing tile selections for 2017, with insights about the global influences and technology that will impact your upcoming projects. Halbert’s insights are derived, in large part, from work she’s done with the Color Marketing Group (CMG), which include ChromaZone meetings that take place from January through the end of the summer. ChromaZones color forecasting workshops for Color Marketing Group members gener- ate information which becomes part of the broader color work that takes place during the CMG North American International summit. Colors deemed most important from each ChromaZone move on to con- sideration in the CMG International Summit, becoming part of the nation- al North American forecast of 16 col- ors. There are also regional forecasts within key areas in North America. The CMG International Summits also give an opportunity to hear presen- tations about color influences and forecasts for the Asia/Pacific, Europe and Latin America areas as well. Inspiration comes from many influ- ences, Halbert said: travel, fashion, home décor, trade shows, market intelligence , elections/politics, sport- ing events like the Olympics (and the country and culture hosting the Games) , technology and what’s on people’s minds. All of these influ- ences combine into a palette of hues for the coming year. Color Forecast 2017 These are the hues headlining in fashion trends for the coming year, according to Halbert. White – Popular in the late '90s, Halbert said it waxes and wanes but that she doesn’t “see it going away any time soon.” White evokes a sense of crisp and clean, evidenced in all-white bathrooms and kitchens. White is the number one best-selling paint color for walls. Black – A classic pairing with white, black is forecast for floors and walls. Quarzite looks offer monochromatic tones with less intense blacks, favor- ing charcoal with bluish undertones. director of Product Design Dal-Tile Corporation, shared her experience, wisdom and vision with NTCA in December 2016, in a NTCA webinar titled, "Color and Tile Design Trends S Color and tile trends 2017: Dal-Tile's Shelly Halbert forecasts what's hot in color and design for the coming year By Shelly Halbert, director of Product Design, Dal-Tile Corporation 12 2015 | TRENDS Black and white are still important tones for the 2017 palette.
